Jenn Ko on Confidence And Courage Helping Her Follow Her Dream

I had the amazing opportunity to work with Alisa for three months after connecting through a women in tech network. I had never worked with a coach before, so I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. I just knew I needed some advice. So, I decided to take the leap to see what would come of it — and my expectations were beyond exceeded!

In March 2020, I had just moved back from living abroad and decided to launch my own business. I knew exactly what I wanted to accomplish and what my vision was for this new endeavor, but didn’t know where to start. I had thrown together a website, launched social media profiles, and started reaching out to all of my contacts. A month in, I felt stuck.

Sales was never my strongest skill and I was nervous about putting myself out there to gain clients. I feared that I would fail at my dream or others wouldn’t value my work. I also felt unequipped to make business decisions as a team of one such as, pricing my services and choosing an LLC vs. sole proprietorship.

Each day I would try to make progress whether it was reaching out to potential clients, posting on social media, or working on deck templates. While it felt like I was at my computer from morning till night, I never felt fully accomplished at the end of the week. In my first month of launching my business, I sent a proposal out to a potential client, but was told that there wasn't enough budget to cover my price. That“no” continued to fuel my fear.

During the very first session I had with Alisa, she asked me how I was showing up personally in my business and helped me shift my whole perspective on how to approach it. I had gotten so caught up in being “successful” in the very first month of launching that I had lost sight of showing my personal values and why I launched this business in the first place. She worked with me to write down very specific goals and motivated me to find a work routine. Our conversations consistently resulted in tangible outcomes, but most importantly Alisa helped me gain the confidence and courage to go all in on my dream.

After just three months of working with Alisa, I was able to celebrate filing my LLC and signing my first official client! I have also completely shifted the way I approach pricing when I send proposals out, and feel fully equipped to make decisions for my business without the lingering fear of failure.

My overall experience with Alisa was so enjoyable. She was easy to talk to, and I instantly felt safe sharing where I was in my entrepreneurial journey. I knew I could be open and honest with my struggles without any judgement because her only intention was to help me fulfill my passion. If you’re still trying to decide whether coaching is for you, just do it, you won’t regret it — and with Alisa of course!
