Hey everyone! If you’ve been wondering who's been sliding into your inbox with blog posts full of wisdom and fun podcast updates — that would be me. I’m Nathalie, an Afro-Latina NYC native who gets a bit tired of the city and likes to explore nature and other parts of the world. The top left is me in Barcelona and to the right is me in Chicago.

Since I get a bit burnt out from the hustle and bustle that is NYC, I’ve been striving to be more intentional when it comes to my personal and professional goals. I recently left a stable Public Relations job I secured straight out of college because I knew it didn’t align with my values or was how I wanted to make an impact.

2020 has been filled with me getting back to my love of writing and interviewing creative and inspiring people, exploring my love of environmentalism while working at a zero-waste shop, and thinking really hard about where I see myself next. It’s been rewarding, uncomfortable, and honestly a little frustrating.

I’m 23 years old and still figuring things out while I dive into what I love. From doing yoga, to working on projects with nonprofits, to subscribing to every newsletter imaginable. This “grace period” has taught me more about myself and how I actually want to contribute to the world.

Mixing storytelling with climate and social justice issues while working alongside diverse groups of people to help communities is how I want to spend my days (professionally at least).  I can’t think of a specific job title that this falls under, but I’ve spotted stories and projects out there that are ready to be told and worked on.

Working on The Happy Cactus right now is meshing my love of writing, newsletters, and telling the stories of diverse women. So I’m very excited to get to share cool topics with you all! As a blogger and newsletter writer, I will be diving even deeper into the topics that are discussed in the Color Forward podcast (heavy hitters like failure and discovering your strengths) and compiling great content into your inboxes to help you achieve your goals.

That’s what The Happy Cactus is all about! Making huge dreams a reality for women.

I hope that you all grow alongside me as we try to figure out where we see ourselves next and how we’ll get there.
